Update on the situation in Gaza: ceasefire on the brink

The prospect of a lasting ceasefire in Gaza is faltering. According to Israeli media reports, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is said to have assured his ministers that military operations would resume after the first phase of the agreement. These statements contradict the expectations of the US, which had assumed that the ceasefire would be long-lasting.
