Israel's Defence Minister Israel Katz has issued a clear warning to Hamas, announcing that it will “deal blows with a severity that Gaza has not seen in a long time” if the organization does not release the Israeli hostages who have been held for 14 months and cease its rocket attacks.
The statement follows the firing of two rockets by Hamas on the town of Netivot, in which no injuries or damage were reported. Katz stressed that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) would intensify its operations against Hamas to secure the release of the hostages and dismantle the group's activities.
He also called on Gaza residents to stand up to Hamas in order to end the conflict and alleviate the suffering of the civilian population.
